Farrier Surveying was founded by Eugene Farrier in 1980. Based in Kalkaska MI, it is a family owned and operated firm that has continued to serve the greater Kalkaska area and surrounding counties.

Eugene, a licensed Professional Surveyor, began his surveying career in 1958 working for Michigan Department of Transportation, doing road surveys and later working in the Right Of Way Division.
In 1971 he worked for a private engineer and surveying company and became a Survey Supervisor. In 1980 he opened Farrier Surveying from his home, with one part time employee.
Gene is very active in the community having served on the board of directors for the Kalkaska Downtown Development Association. Gene was the elected Kalkaska County Surveyor from 1980 until 2012. He is also a member of the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS).
Dean possesses a B.S. in Surveying Engineering from Ferris State University. In addition, he has a B.S. in Education, Biology and Chemistry from Central Michigan University. In July 1995, he became a Licensed Professional Surveyor of Michigan.
He holds memberships in ACSM and the Northern Michigan Chapter of MSPS. As Project Supervisor and Consulting Biologist his responsibilities include: CAD operations, supervision of survey crews in the field, representing the company in client interactions, wetland determinations, preparation of environmental permit applications for wetland fill or stream and wetland crossings.
He possesses numerous years of experience in the surveying field. Following in his father's footsteps, Dean was elected Kallaska County surveyor in 2012. Dean is currently involved with several community boards and projects.
Heather is a dedicated and technically skilled business professional with a versatile administrative skill set developed through experience as an Office Manager and Administrative Manager. Heather is also a Certified Administrative Professional (CAP).
She has worked for many years in the land survey industry, ensuring a consistent positive customer experience. Agent for permitting and regulatory oil and gas clients.
Doug possesses a BS in Biology, a BS in Industrial & Engineering Technology and a MS in Aquatic Biology/Stream Ecology, all from Central Michigan University.
He has been employed by the State of Michigan since 1988. Initially Doug was an Industrial Hygienist for the Occupational Health Div., then an Aquatic Biologist for the Surface Water Quality Div. From 1997 until 2013, Doug was a Senior Environmental Quality Analyst for the Water Resources Div.
In this capacity, Doug did field investigations, wrote permits and denials and did enforcement reviews for land and water projects from the Saginaw Bay office. After retiring in December of 2013, Doug joined Farrier Surveying as Sr. Consulting Biologist, offering consultation in wetlands, ponds, lake, streams, soil erosion and storm water control, wildlife habitat and Threatened & Endangered Species surveys.
